02/28/07 08:00 PM - Barking Spider III was the first over the line in the Salsa Division this afternoon, followed swiftly by Tenacity, Polaire, Jungle Jim, Divergent, Raincloud, Segue, Vision, and Amazing Grace who have all now finished. Official times will follow, so check back soon.

02/28/07 08:00 AM - Barking Spider just reported from the 6 mile mark. The committee is on its way out to the finish line. Tenacity and Raincloud are close behind. These boats should finish in the next 3 hours.

02/27/07 04:30 PM - It's official. Magnitude 80 finished at 4:51:39 AM PST with an elapsed time of 3 Days, 15 hours, 51 minutes, and 39 seconds, a new Puerto Vallarta Race record! Everyone from the FIS Tracking team would like to extend congratulations to this fine vessel and crew.

02/27/07 1:00 PM - Congratulations to Magnitude 80!! They broke the record which stood at 4 days, 23 hours, and 4 seconds since 1985, the old record held by JOSS, a then brand new MacGregor-65 owned by the late Richard Daniels.

02/27/07 05:00 AM - Magnitude 80 has finished! Unofficially they beat the old record that they were aiming for. We will update as soon as the results are made official. Additionally, all the Salsa division has now started the third leg and it is anticipated that they will be to the finish within the next 24 hours. Stay tuned for any breaking race news.

02/24/07 01:00 PM - Del Rey Yacht Club officials informed FIS on-site team that the reason Scout Spirit withdrew from the race was that she was dismasted. At this time, no further details were available.

02/24/07 11:00 AM - The latest tracking information shows Scout Spirit at: Lat 33 44.89'N, Lon 118 06.87'W, which appears to be a marina near the Alamitos Bay State Park. There is still no word as to the reason they have apparently withdrawn. Please check back for future updates!

02/24/07 08:00 AM - As we wait on details on Scout Spirit, it appears that they have diverted from heading to Marina Del Rey Yach Club harbor and have gone to a boat yard somwhere near Long Beach. Stay tune for mor details.

02/23/07 10:20 PM - Scout Spirit appears to have turned around and is heading back to Marina Del Rey. No details are known at this time. Stay tuned for updates!

02/23/07 12:00 PM - Magnitude 80 and Scout Spirit make that last minute preparations before their start today. This will be the last start of this years Puerta Vallarta Race, more photos to come from the start so check back here to see them.

02/23/07 08:00 AM - All the Salsa boats have now finished the second leg and we should know the official results shortly. Raincloud has crossed the first Racing Division crossing point at Ensenada and should reach Cedros Island within a few hours as they are making excellent headway down the course. Meanwhile Jungle Jim is at the Island and making good progress to catch up to the remaining boats in the Salsa division to race the 3rd and final leg with them.

02/22/07 05:00 PM - Barking Spider 3 and Amazing Grace (both of Salsa Spinnaker A) have crossed the Cabo Lazaro finish line in the Salsa Division. Barking Spider 3 crossed at 03:49:32 PM (PST) while Amazing Grace time was at 04:27:02 PM. The Salsa division is rolling in and we expect additional finishers soon!

Additionally, Raincloud (PHRF B) crossed the Ensenada line earlier this afternoon at 12:49:34 PM.

02/21/07 11:00 AM - Jungle Jim has left Marina Del Rey now that the repairs have been completed; they are going to motor down to Cabo San Lazaro to meet up with the rest of the Salsa Division boats in time to start the 3rd and final leg of the race.

02/20/07 05:00 PM - The Salsa division boats are spending another night in Turtle Bay and should start the next leg tomorrow.

02/19/07 05:00 PM - All the boats are safe in Turtle Bay as the current storm blows through the area. They plan on starting the second leg of the race tomorrow morning. Meanwhile the long-range forecasts are saying there will be a good NW breeze all the way for the bigger boats starting later this week, excellent conditions for trying to break old records.

02/19/07 10:00 AM - The good news is that Jungle Jim has been repaired and will be motoring out tomorrow to catch up with the fleet and compete in the last leg of the race. Raincloud is going to compete in the race even though the other two boats in their division have withdrawn, they will start as planned on Wednesday.

02/18/07 09:00 PM - Amazing Grace of the Spinnaker Class - A Division is the first to cross the Isla Cedros crossing point. They crossed at 6:52PM PST and were followed closely by Division mate Barking Spider 3 which crossed at 6:56PM PST! 02/17/07 06:00 PM - The Del Rey Yacht Club has announced that unfortunately both E.T. and Sapphire due to start on Wednesday in the PHRF-B division have withdrawn from the race. No news yet on how the repairs to Jungle Jim are progressing but check back for futher updates.

02/17/07 12:00 PM - The lead pack: Amazing Grace, Segue, Tenacity & Barking Spider 3 are pulling away from the rest of the fleet. Be sure to click on the "Notify Me" button on the race tracking page to be emailed when your boat or boats of interest cross the line at the end of the first leg, or you can select to get updated position reports.

02/17/07 08:00 AM - JUNGLE JIM started taking on water last evening around 8:00 PM PST. They turned back and are now safely in Long Beach Harbor for repairs. Their hope is to make it to Turtle Bay in time to start Leg #2.
